Brenham State Supported Living Center

The Brenham State Supported Living Center (formerly called the Brenham State School) is a 200-acre state supported living center that is home to approximately 375 people. The Center serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The Center employees nearly 1,000 people in our county, including several of our church members.

We have a relationship with the Center through their Volunteer Services Council. For three years now we have annually joined Center residents for their regular Sunday morning worship at the on-site chapel. The service is co-lead by our Pastor and the Center's Chaplain. After worship, we enjoy a picnic in the park and then plant flowers and other landscaping outside their residence halls. Additionally, we collect gifts for Center residents every year at Christmas.

The relationship we have with the special people, both residents and employees, of BSSLC is important to us. We continue to seek ways we can serve God's children in this special place.
